Tera - Icelandic Hand Spun

Tera was one of our original Icelandic ewes.  As a wee lamb she was chocolate brown and with time her fleece matured to a beautiful grey, thick with creamy thell, the down portion of an Icelandic's dual coat. For those who follow our instagram feed, you know that we lost Tera summer of 2020. These skeins were spun from Tera's first lamb shearing and her final shearing, before we laid her to rest on our hill.  The fleece was washed using the suint (cold water fermentation) method to preserve the integrity of the fleece.  This leaves a minimal amount of the lanolin in the yarns. Although the yarns is predominantly tonal greys, some specks of Tera's original copper flecks the skeins.

100% thick and thin hand spun ICELANDIC bulky weight yarn measure approximately 100m (109yds) per 100g

Recommended Needle Size: 5.5 - 6.5mm (US 9 - 10) needles.

Sample photos include a blanket I wove on a floor loom using skeins from this batch.
